1  HIGHLANDER forum / HIGHLANDER discussion board / Found an old Highlander
 on: Dec 3rd, 2008, 4:33pm
Started by FlatLander | Post by FlatLander
I was visiting my local sail shop and the Owner pulled in to his shop to show me an old Highlander he had been asked to restore.  I could not find a hull number.  There was a sail bag with #288 on it.  I would like to confirm the hull number.  Where can that be found on the old boats.  Does recognize the sail number and know any history?

It's in rough shape but is still rigged as if it came from the showroom floor.

2  HIGHLANDER forum / FOR SALE OR SAIL / Highlander 876 BLIND HOG for sale
 on: Oct 2nd, 2007, 11:32pm
Started by Fanny Timmer | Post by Fanny Timmer
During a mid August wind storm, Highlander #876 also known as the Blind Hog sustained significant hull damage in her port, rear quarter where the top port side of the boat meets the transom and the deck.  On that corner the side has pulled away slightly from the deck and the transom.  Also during the storm the trailer tongue was damaged as the tongue was knocked slightly off center.  The trailer is ‘usable’ as I towed it with the boat on it, to two locations for various repair estimates.
The mast has a slight crease in it, but I would consider it unsafe for use and it should be replaced.

I have decided to sell the boat, mast, and trailer (as is) and all of the normal equipment that goes with a fully rigged racing Highlander.  Below is a list of the items that will be included.  Upon request I can send some digital pictures to show some indication of the extent of the damage.

I am asking $1,750 or best offer for the entire package. The boat can be seen at the Louisville Sailing Club.  It’ll be on display at the Oct 6/7 Bluegrass Regatta if you might be attending that event, or if not, you might have someone who is coming look over the boat for you if you cannot attend.  The equipment includes:

Damaged.
Hull (as is.)  Aft, port side at top is separated from deck at transom.
Trailer, Tee Nee (as is.)  (Is structurally sound and trailerable now. Local repair estimate - $380)
Travel cover: Bobb’s Bags (Perakis) (as is.) (local estimated patch cost: $90)
Mast. (as is.) (has spinnaker halyard and main and jib halyards & topping lift lines attached.)

Below: All in good condition.
Boom
Sails: Main, jib, and spinnaker. (North sails; guessing: 5 year-old
Plastimo Compass, 5 3/8” red card. (with mount.)
Bobb’s Bag (Pearakis) bottom cover. Excellent condition.
Main and jib sheets and all normal “race” rigging is in boat. (Harken fittings, race rigged.)
Spinnaker pole.
Lifting bridle.
Tube type Tiller w extension.
Rudder.
Bobb’s Bags Rudder cover
Light bar. (traveling)
Two, ‘old’ spare tires.
Boom crutch.
Travel fork.
Two paddles.
Throwable PSD with whistle.
Anchor and line.
Bow line.

Governor’s Cup Regatta together with Make-A-Wish Foundation

This year the Governor’s Cup Regatta has joined forces to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

If you are unfamiliar with Make-A-Wish, they are a charitable organization that helps children with life-threatening medical conditions...to grant a child’s wish. This Regatta will help benefit a 5 year-old boy named Tyler who suffers from Pilocytic Astrocytoma (a form of brain tumor). Tyler’s wish is to go to Disney World.

Several local businesses are sponsoring the regatta and we are hopefully going to raise enough funds to grant Tyler’s wish...but we need your help.

We are asking everyone to come out and race your sailboat in the Governor’s Cup Regatta!

All of the regatta fees will go toward making Tyler’s wish possible and you will also enjoy two days of great sailing.   If racing doesn’t interest you, I know the regatta dinner will!

The dinner tickets (also to benefit Tyler’s wish) are $13 each and this includes unlimited refreshments and a live band. During the dinner, we will also raffle off sailing related items that have been donated by Sailboats Inc and other businesses or people in the area.

So, mark your calendar for September 8th and 9th and come out and support the cause.  Arrive early for the Friday night welcome party.  Food & Refreshments!

Sail for fun....

Sail with a purpose....

The NOR and Registration for the Governor's Cup can be found at: http://race.ecsail.org

Help us make the Highlander Fleet the largest one design at the Regatta.  We’re sailing for a great cause, too!
Email me at cjbrehob@hotmail.com and let me know you are coming.  As long as I know you will be here and how many meals you want,  you will get the early registration rate without sending in your check.

Eagle Creek awaits you!
